Urgent Call for Strategic Change in Senator Monday Okpebholo’s Campaign From High Chief Dr MD
I must express my support for Senator Monday Okpebholo, a Man of Grace, from an empathetic standpoint. It pains me to some extent, bringing disappointment, observing the progress of his campaign so far.
Senator Monday Okpebholo is undoubtedly a gentleman and the leading candidate in the Edo Governorship election. However, running a campaign where the candidate shies away from those he intends to govern and delivers speeches lacking depth in policy is deeply concerning.
Truth be told, those closely working with Senator Monday Okpebholo are not handling things correctly by keeping him distant like a prized palliative.
Reliable sources across local governments and wards reveal that the people of Edo are unhappy with the campaign's current approach. Those managing the campaign must avoid any resemblance to Governor Obaseki's disdain for the people of Edo. Obaseki's refusal to engage with anyone and his dictatorial attitude should not be mirrored by Senator Monday, who is now perceived as disrespectful and disengaged.
Every aspect of Senator Monday's campaign seems to be a mix of outdated political tactics trying to adjust to modern methods without a clear strategic vision. Glossy posters and addressing only the faithful won't suffice; the campaign needs to broaden its reach.
In contrast, Asue Ighodalo's campaign engages with everyone, including those Senator Monday has barely reached out to, and follows up diligently. Moreover, the power struggle between Senator Oshiomole and Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu is another distraction he needs to distance his campaign from, asserting his personality and taking full control. He must show Edo people that they are voting for him, not for a third term of Oshiomole or the supremacy of Pastor Ize-Iyamu.
The issue lies with those keeping him distant, hindering his campaign. Let Senator Monday campaign freely, as this insulated approach is gradually alienating supporters, including many like us who, though not APC members, were willing to support him. This lackadaisical approach is neither intelligent nor practical and borders on incompetence.
If there are honest and truthful people around Senator Monday, they should advise a change in tactics and approach. This is essential and requires critical thinkers with a robust, modern approach in 2024.
Once again, I state, I stand with Senator Monday Okpebholo for Governor of Edo State. A change of approach is demanded at this crucial hour.
I AM Chief MD
