Ikorodu West Youths Get Major Boost as NYCN, LSETF Host ‘Equipping Minds, Financing Dreams 2026’
It was a day of real empowerment and not just talk at the Ikorodu West Council Secretariat, as the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Ikorodu West Branch, in partnership with the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund, hosted ‘EQUIPPING MINDS, FINANCING DREAMS 2026’.
Olamide Gudoo OnlineTv was on ground for full media coverage of the event tagged “Unlocking Opportunities For Employment, Business Growth & Financial Independence.”
The event pulled heavyweights from Ikorodu West. Present was the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA, who attended alongside the Council Manager and the Local Government Secretary, showing strong government backing for youth development.
Also speaking exclusively to Olamide Gudoo OnlineTv was a member of the event planning committee who shared the vision behind the program, and the Youth Coordinator for Ikorodu West, who gave a powerful closing charge to all young people in attendance.
This was not a “come and listen” seminar. It was a “come and collect” empowerment program. Major takeaways include:
Free CAC Business Registration: Participants got instant access to register their businesses with the Corporate Affairs Commission at zero cost.
LSETF Loan Access Up To ₦5 Million: The Lagos State Employment Trust Fund opened its loan portal, with opportunities up to ₦5,000,000 for qualified youth-led businesses.
LASHMA Enrollment Sensitization: The Lagos State Health Management Agency was on ground to enroll youths into the state health insurance scheme.
LIRS Tax Awareness & Compliance Training: The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service educated attendees on tax benefits, compliance, and how paying tax positions their businesses for bigger opportunities.
Free LASSRA Registration: Free enrollment for the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency was conducted for all participants.
Business Mentorship & Advisory Support: Seasoned entrepreneurs provided one-on-one mentorship to guide young business owners.
Speaking to our camera, the planning committee member emphasized that “the goal is to remove excuses.” The Youth Coordinator for Ikorodu West, in his closing interview, charged every youth to “take these tools and build something that will outlive you.”
At a time when many young people are searching for direction, ‘Equipping Minds, Financing Dreams 2026’ provided actual keys: business legitimacy, funding, health, tax knowledge, identity, and mentorship. The presence of the Ikorodu West LCDA leadership further proves that grassroots government is listening.
