Panic gripped residents of Odokekere, Ikorodu North LCDA, Lagos State, after a midnight fire outbreak completely destroyed a shop, leaving the owner counting heavy losses as all goods and valuables inside were consumed by the flames.

According to an eyewitness who spoke exclusively with Olamide Gudoo OnlineTv, the incident occurred at about 10:00 p.m. on Saturday night. The eyewitness disclosed that the fire reportedly started from an electrical spark inside the shop before spreading rapidly through the structure.

Despite the intensity of the fire, members of the Odokekere community quickly mobilised to the scene and worked together to contain the blaze. Their prompt response prevented the fire from spreading to neighbouring shops, a development that could have resulted in even greater destruction.

Although the affected shop was completely burnt, the swift intervention of community members helped save surrounding businesses from suffering the same fate.

The eyewitness also used the opportunity to appeal to the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA and the Councillor representing Ward E1 to come to the assistance of the shop owner, who reportedly lost everything inside the shop during the incident.

This unfortunate event serves as another reminder of the importance of electrical safety in homes and business premises. Residents are encouraged to regularly inspect electrical wiring and ensure faulty installations are repaired promptly to minimise the risk of fire outbreaks.
