Renewed Hope for Fire Victim? Ward E1 Councillor Visits Odokekere Inferno Scene, Promises to Put a Smile Back on Victim's Face

What began as a tragic fire disaster that left a business owner devastated may now be turning into a story of hope, following the intervention of the Councillor representing Ward E1 in Ikorodu North LCDA and Majority Leader, Hon. Banjoko (BBO).

Days after Olamide Gudoo OnlineTv broke the news of the Saturday night fire outbreak at Odokekere, Ikorodu North, Lagos State, the councillor paid a visit to the scene to personally assess the extent of the damage and sympathise with the affected victims.

During the inspection, Hon. Banjoko confirmed that the incident affected three shops, including the two neighbouring shops beside the shop where the fire reportedly started. Although community members were able to prevent the flames from spreading further, one of the shops was completely destroyed, with all the goods inside reduced to ashes.

In an exclusive interview with Olamide Gudoo OnlineTv, the owner of the destroyed shop revealed that she lost goods worth nearly ₦10 million, describing the incident as a heartbreaking setback after years of hard work and investment.

The victim also made a passionate appeal to the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Hon. Apanisile, pleading for assistance to help her rebuild her business and get back on her feet.

After inspecting the scene, Hon. Banjoko visited the victim at her residence to offer words of comfort and solidarity. The visit provided an opportunity for him to hear directly from the victim about the challenges she now faces following the devastating loss.

When Olamide Gudoo OnlineTv asked the councillor what his office intends to do to support the victim, he assured both the victim and members of the community that she would not be left to face the hardship alone.

According to him, he will return—not just for another visit, but to put a smile back on the face of the affected woman through meaningful support.

The councillor also urged residents and business owners to pay closer attention to electrical safety by ensuring that electrical installations are properly maintained to reduce the risk of similar fire incidents in the future.

The Odokekere fire has once again highlighted the importance of community unity. Residents who responded immediately to the incident played a crucial role in preventing the fire from spreading to more shops, demonstrating the power of collective action during emergencies.

As conversations around the incident continue, many residents believe that support from government, community leaders, and well-meaning individuals will help the affected trader rebuild her livelihood.

For many observers, the councillor's visit and promise of assistance represent a Renewed Hope for the victim—a sign that she has not been forgotten in her time of need.
