COMR. EMMANUEL O.O NATIONAL HEAD OF RESEARCH & DEPUTY SOUTHWEST COORDINATOR (CPO) ESCAPES ATTEMPTED KIDNAPPING ALONG KABBA ROAD
PRESS STATEMENT
On Wednesday, 10th September 2025, at about 3:50 pm, I, Comr. Emmanuel O. O., National Head of Research and Deputy Southwest Coordinator of the Coalition for Peter Obi (CPO), alongside colleagues, narrowly escaped a deadly kidnapping attack along the Kabba–Abuja highway.
According to eyewitness accounts, four armed men dressed in army uniforms mounted an illegal roadblock. Two of them carried rifles while two others wielded heavy sticks. They fired gunshots into the air to create panic and successfully stopped an 18-seater bus ahead of us.
Tragically, almost all passengers inside that bus were abducted. Only a blind elderly woman, another aged woman, and one man who cleverly hid himself managed to escape.
Our own bus, which followed closely behind, came under threat. In fear for our lives, we ran into the bush and hid until the kidnappers left the scene with their victims. We later re-emerged and met with local vigilantes, members of the Nigerian Army, and other security operatives who responded after the incident.
This was a horrific and devastating experience, and the trauma of that moment still lingers in our hearts. Sadly, it is another painful reminder of the worsening state of insecurity in our country. Nigerians can no longer travel freely without the fear of abduction or death on our highways.
We therefore call on the Federal Government and relevant security agencies to step up their efforts in combating kidnapping and banditry. No nation can progress while its citizens live in fear. It is time to secure Nigeria and restore public confidence in our roads.
May those abducted be rescued safely, and may our nation never again witness such terror.
Signed:
Comr. Emmanuel O. O.
National Head of Research, CPO
Deputy Southwest Coordinator, CPO
